V8: fitting a nanopore channel model to public data
Public data
A channel model fitted to the public D13 nanopore dataset reproduces per-base rates and indel run lengths but fails read-level structure tests. Reported as INADEQUATE; held-out data never opened.
- Classification
- Derived from another group's published sequencing data. No DNA was handled by VSNexus.
- Methodology
- Pre-registered FIT / DEV / held-out split with a split guard; FIT-only pre-check before any DEV look.
- Datasets
- D13: Lopez et al. 2019, ONT R9.4 1D², 2.67 M FIT segments.
- Results
- INADEQUATE on the pre-registered FIT-only pre-check (edit-distance shape, per-read error rate, read drift, substitution spectrum). 360 decodes under controlled simulated channels: 0 false success, 0 false frames.
- Environment
- Shared 4-core / 8-thread Xeon Gold 6240 VPS.
- Limitations
- A negative result; the model is used only as a stress condition.
- Reproducibility
- See docs/V8_COMPLETION_REPORT.md
